You may know his face, but you probably have no idea what his name is. He is the guy who is in all those funny movies, right? Yeah, you remember him. He was in Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Role Models; he is Paul Rudd – that is Rudd, not Rude. The two are spelled differently.
On April 6, 1969, Paul Rudd was born in Passaic, New Jersey. Since his father worked for one of the airlines, Paul and his family moved around a great deal before they finally settled in Kansas City, Kansas. It was there in Kansas City that Paul graduated from high school and headed off to study at the University of Kansas.

Rudd majored in theater in college, and after he graduated, he was accepted into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, West in Los Angeles. He enhanced his studies by attending a workshop at Oxford University's prestigious British Drama Academy.

Once Paul returned to the United States, he had his television debut on the prime time, drama series Sisters in 1992. He was a regular on the show until 1995. During the same period, he also appeared on other television shows including Wild Oats. The same year, Rudd made his first, motion picture appearance in Amy Heckerling's teen classic Clueless playing Alicia Silverstone's stepbrother.
Paul was shocked by the accolades and success he earned as a result of his performance in Clueless. He received a great deal of press and a lot of attention from fans. Later on that year, Rudd played the leading role in the sixth installment of the “when will they end” Halloween movies, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

1996 was a very rough year for Paul. His movies of that year never connected with his audience, and the critics seemed to have a bull's-eye on every move he made. For a while, it seemed that every project he acted in sank like a rock. That unlucky streak continued for part of 1997, but then Rudd obtained the lead part in Alfred Uhry's Broadway play, The Last Night of Ballyhoo.

Paul continued to enjoy the favor of Broadway and did other productions such as the successful Twelfth Night. In this play, Rudd took the stage with Oscar Winner Helen Hunt. The year would also include an opportunity that allowed Paul to star with the first Mrs. Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston (whom he appeared on Friends with in a recurring role for two years), in the movie, the Object of My Affection. He also had a starring role in 200 Cigarettes with Ben and Casey Affleck. Even though the film was loudly panned by the critics, Rudd still received good reviews for his efforts.

Rudd played Nick Caraway in a television version of Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. In 2001, he showed another side of his versatile acting skills in the comedy, Wet Hot American Summer. Again, Paul played to his comedic best in 2004 as a supporting cast member in Will Ferrell's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Finally, it appeared that Rudd was listening to his bank balance; obviously, he belonged in comedy.

Steve Carell's The 40 Year Old Virgin, a huge box office winner, allowed Rudd to be funny again and had audiences in stitches. In 2009, Paul had a major role in the hilarious movie, I Love You Man. This film allowed Rudd to completely stand alone in a comedy, and he excelled in his performance as a man looking for a BFF.

In 2010, Paul will share the screen once again with his friend, Steve Carell, with Hangover star Zach Galifianakis in Dinner for Schmucks. Critics are already predicting that this comedy, like most of Rudd's, will be a box office bonanza because of the stellar cast ensemble which also includes Bruce Greenwood and Ron Livingston.

Julie Yaeger had been Paul's girlfriend for five years when the couple decided to get married in 2003. Today, they live in Manhattan, NY with their son. In a recent interview, Paul admitted to having among other things, the condition of blepharitis, which is dandruff of the eyelid. Shockingly, it is so very true. Nothing should be surprising about one of Hollywood's funniest men.
